Team leader for Biofoundry and Automation

Responsibilities

1. Provide strategic direction for the Protein, Pathway and Strain Engineering team, aligning strategies with company goals. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver value.

2. Work within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team to actively contribute to executing the company's vision.

3. Maintain a high level of scientific expertise aligned with project requirements, expand the scientific capabilities of the SynBio group, and serve as a scientific resource for MojiaBio.

4. Lead and manage biofoundry system including developing and optimizing methods, DBTL workflows, high-throughput analytic systems, and data analysis.

5. Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and skill development.

6. Plan, coordinate, and execute biofoundry related works, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery of project objectives.

7. Utilize statistical analysis, programming languages such as Python or R, or other bioinformatics tools to interpret and draw insights from large datasets generated by high-throughput experiments.

8. Effectively communicate with cross-functional teams to tackle complex challenges in protein and enzyme engineering projects.

9. Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements in protein and enzyme engineering, applying emerging technologies to enhance strategies and project outcomes.

10. Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of experimental data and results.

11. Participate with IP team to protect, enrich and increase value of the company's technology IP portfolio.

12. Ensure that all research activities adhere to regulatory guidelines and safety standards.


Qualifications

1. Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or related fields with a minimum of 6 years of experience working in biofoundry facilities. MSc with significant relevant experience will be considered.

2. Demonstrated success in leading or managing projects using biofoundry and automated systems.

3. Extensive experience in advanced molecular biology, utilizing a range of biofoundry equipment including HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS, flow cytometry, bioreactors, liquid handling systems, and in vitro and in vivo high-throughput analytic systems. Proficiency in basic programming for data analytics will be considered as an advantage.

4. Strong scientific and analytical skills are a must. Candidates should have the ability to efficiently multitask, prioritize tasks effectively, and bring projects to successful conclusions.

5. Proven leadership abilities, including the capacity to motivate and inspire high-performing teams, are essential.

6. Effective organizational skills, including setting, prioritizing, and achieving research goals, are a key requirement.

7. Solid strategic thinking is necessary for developing and articulating program strategy, risk mitigation plans, and milestones.

8. Capable to adapt and work well in a collaborative, fast-paced work setting, contributing to a positive and inclusive team culture.

9. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills in Chinese and English.

10. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues.
